I had a serious situation last year which prevented me from paying my taxes entirely and now my husband has been out of work for medical reasons and we can’t keep up with paying the back tax. Are any of these firms that specialize in helping taxpayers by dealing with the the IRS real or are they scams? We don’t know where to turn. The IRS is threatening to levy my income -our only source of income which means we can’t pay mortage, car payments, electric, etc. Anyone?

I’m filing my taxes online through the IRS website and need to find a “booklet” that is referenced in my 1040EZ form. References to this “booklet” refer to it only as “the booklet”, not something with a title that’d be easy to find. I was wondering if anybody else had a similar problem while they were filing, and might know the name of it, or where to find one (online, if possible).
Thanks.

I left my husband about three yrs ago. I took my then two yr old son with me. So ive been claiming him on my taxes since then. I had my boyfriend claim him last yr because i didn’t make enough on my job and he has always been there for him giving me money to take care of my son.
Yesterday, he called and told me that IRS have sent him a letter that someone else have claim my son so he shuold explain his side of the story. Im almost possitve that it might be my exhusband. ever since i left him three yrs ago, he hasnt even send my son a penny,
My question is what should i do to help my boyfriend out of this mess? we both live in two different states. Please help.

I have a problem with 2005 tax return. I did some stock tradings in 2005 which I didn’t include in tax filing, because I was not aware of it. Now IRS is asking me to pay $20,000 and they say now it’s with collections. I didn’t make any profit from stock trading, and I recently learnt that I would have to file schedule D. Is there any way I can file a correction to my 2005 tax return now including Schedule D and 1099 form from stock broker. Appreciate if anyone could let me know the procedure(because it’s already in collections)
